Keep the Skinny Birds Flying Safely
The IA I am working with wants to know if there are any AD's on the wing struts of my 1940 Collegiate. He said I should have my wing struts punch tested for thin spots but would like to know if there are any AD's first.

I am restoring a 1940 Collegiate and need to find a source for control cable fairleads. The fairleads are .550 in diameter and 1" long. I have checked all the traditional sources and they all have Piper cub fairleads that are .750" in diameter. Does anyone have a source for Porterfield fairleads?

I have a 1940 Porterfield basket case that I am restoring. I have very little technical information to put this thing back together. I've done OK so far, but could use some pictures of one that is together and flying. I built new wings and am ready to cover them. Progress has been slow as I put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Please call me if you have one that I could come and take pictures of inside and out. I do not want to disassemble anything or cause any harm in doing so.…

Does anyone know where I can get tapered steel channel for the rudder of my CP50? The 2 bottom channels are cracked and need to be replaced. If I can't find a source to them, I will attempt to bend some out of .040 4130 steel strips.
